Good morning!
Returning from my semi-break, I’ve got a couple of notes to make:
Firstly, that fiction is restarting, albeit at a somewhat slower pace. I’ll aim to have 1-2 chapters posted each month, and if one of the posting days (5th, 15th, 25th, and/or 30th) does not have a chapter, as you know, I’ll generally have a post on something else.
I do have a chapter of The Sword of Myn’ incoming on Friday; possibly also a miniature foray into (milder) horror fiction that goes along with Myn’, on a different date; and a chapter of Rise of Sirius, which will probably be out on May 5th or 15th. Friday’s chapter will be the last of TSK for a while, as I’d like to concentrate on completing Sirius and prepping July’s serial.
Secondly, yes, fiction is paywalled for the most part, as mentioned in one of my last updates. However, as we’re still doing the “first 1-3 chapters are free”, I will be sending out a heads’ up when a free chapter is on the way; that way, if you are deleting any paywalled chapters from your inbox, you’ll know which one is available for you to read.
Finally, I will be working on the Windflower site during May. Part of this will be organization, as there’s quite a tangle of sections now in the navigation bar! I’ll be narrowing this down as much as possible, and will also be including a “Start Here” post on the homepage, as many writers do, which will act as an ongoing directory for the full site.
The second part of the revamping is likely to be a rebranding of Windflower, i.e., new name, logo, and color theme, to better reflect its role now, versus its launch in January 2024. It won’t affect your subscriptions, just the way posts and emails appear.
Originally, I intended Windflower to share Catholic fiction, fashion, and articles on varied artistic topics, as a Substack for Catholic ladies and girls. You can read about the symbolism of Windflower here, in Windflower’s first post:Windflower
·Windflower was not the name I intended to choose. If I’d named it after a flower, it might have been dianthus, or the little phylla (aka matchweed) blossoms I love. Then the name Windflower came into my mind, and I remembered a painting, which I’ve always liked and sometimes used as a profile picture: Windflower, by John William Waterhouse. I’d never re…
In actuality, some of my best readers are men, and because I have a special fondness for writing masculine characters, such as in Rise of Sirius, I can broaden the audience a bit more and tone down the pink theme for them.
Don’t worry, though, pretty is one of my top priorities! The current top contender for the name switch is Star-Spun, which is still pretty, isn’t generic, but makes some sense as both stories and threads can be spun. I write about stars fairly often, and it’s a nod to Our Lady, Stella Maris, as well as the Star of Bethlehem and the angels.
It’s not definite until I need to redesign the logo, so if you’d like to make a suggestion, please feel free to comment! Alternatively, if you think Windflower should remain unchanged in this regard, let me know!Thank you for reading!

Thank you for reading! Windflower is fully supported by its audience. Instead of buying me a coffee, you can purchase my novels or leave a donation which will go towards the purchase of fabric for interactive projects, where you’ll be able to vote on what historical dress or film costume I’ll recreate! Donations also help to continue creating Windflower’s content and to support the local Latin Mass.
Please consider liking, subscribing and sharing with your friends. Thank you, and God bless!
